Invitation to the Belgian Escapade in Gdansk/Sopot!

I have the pleasure to invite you to the Belgian Escapade in Gdansk/Sopot! With the cooperation of the Belgian Business Chamber and the Sofitel Grand Sopot, we have prepared an attractive program to showcase Belgium in the vibrant cities of Gdansk/Sopot/Gdynia. While savoring dishes prepared by Jean Boss - Belgian chef,you will have the chance to mingle with a cross-section of the Belgian-Polish business world at a business mixer in the Grand Hotel. Other features include a jazz concert, a seminar on sustainable development, a presentation of Belgian films, books and comic books, as well as a concert of Renaissance music. Children are invited to a chocolate egg hunt in the gardens of the Hotel…The Gala dinner of 16th April will be a very elegant event, with the political and economic elite of the three cities. We hope that this will be an opportunity to bring Belgium closer to the harbour cities of Northern Poland. It is an occasion to discover Belgian knowhow in many fields, from chocolate to architecture, from jazz to cinema, from cutting edge technology to the art of living…

The concert by the Ghent Collegium Vocale & the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, conductor Daniel Reuss, is organised by the Frederic Chopin Polish Baltic Philharmonic Music society Forza , in cooperation with the Flemish Representation and Sea-Invest on April 13th 2011 on the occasion of the 4th Gdansk Music Festival.

For one week, all fans of Belgian comic books will have the unique opportunity to look at, leaf through or read over thirty titles representing this genre including for example The Adventures of Tintin (tomes I-V), stories of Kid Paddle, Largo Winch (tomes I-VIII) and many others.
In the reading room, there will be also numerous albums and books about Belgium, its culture, art, history…
The comic books will be available in Polish while other publications will be in English, Polish, French or Dutch.

Jazz concert by "Steve Houben quintet"

With the Steve Houben Quintet, the concert of world famous jazz musicians will constitute one of the most quaint music events in Sopot this year.
Steve HOUBEN is the most popular saxophone/ flute player (jazz) in Belgium and has been elected several times as best European musician in his category. In the seventies he was the first in Europe to introduce jazz in Conservatories (in Liege, with Henri Pousseur). He played and recorded with world famous legends as Chet Baker or Bill Frisell… and is to date the only musician ever admitted to the very prestigious Royal Academy of Belgium.
He will perform with three of the most talented musicians of the younger generation. His son Greg HOUBEN (trumpet and vocals) and Pascal MOHY (piano) are already leaders of their own bands and have recorded CD’s in their own name. The third one, Cédric RAYMOND (double bass), is a very demanded poly-instrumentalist performing in different musical disciplines.
Last but not least, witness of a very fruitful relationship with Steve Houben trough the years, the American drummer Rick HOLLANDER (Munich)… one of the finest available this side of the Atlantic.
A stars’ concert… to introduce a gala dinner…not to be missed!

Egg Hunt

The event is not only aimed at children but also at adults who want to enjoy themselves by taking part in an egg hunt organized in the gardens of Sofitel Grand Sopot. This is a traditional Belgian custom during which decorated eggs, real hard-boiled or artificial ones filled with, or made of chocolate candies, of various sizes, are hidden outdoors or indoors and are supposed to be find. This time we will hunt for over 250 chocolate eggs. An excellent time with lots of delicious chocolate is guaranteed.
