Bepolux Award 2011

BEPOLUX, the Belgian Polish Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, dedicated the price for the best Belgian company in Poland to Vlassenroot Polska in Gliwice.
This price is an initiative of Bepolux in association with BNP Paribas Fortis and it was set up to appreciate Belgian and Luxembourg companies for their remarkable performances in Poland.
The price aims to be an incentive for new Belgian Luxembourg venture initiatives on the Polish market and to contribute to the visibility of Bepolux to still more companies in Belgium, Luxembourg and Poland.

This year’s International Oktoberfest combined the best tradition of prevailing reunions as well as culture and various specialties of international cuisine represented by countries of particular Chambers. The meeting was attended by the ambassadors and general consuls of Great Britain, the USA, Germany, Scandinavian countries and Ireland, as well as representatives of local authorities: the Governor, the Marshal and the Mayor of Wrocław. There were also 700 company representatives, members and supporters of all chambers, as well as diplomatic corps and media.

Breakfast meeting with Mr Marek Belka

The International Family Picnic was an excellent platform to meet and network with middle and top management from companies associated with the different Chambers of Commerce as well as their families and clients.
During the event our guest had a fantastic opportunity to practice golf skills (driving range, mini golf, putting green). Many other attractions were also provided - kids as well as their parents had big fun! Moreover our program included business card lottery (great prizes were won).

Meeting with the President of the Republic of Poland - Mr Bronisław Komorowski

On the 28th April 2011 the representatives of the Belgian Business Chamber participated in a meeting with the President of the Republic of Poland - Mr Bronislaw Komorowski. The meeting, which took place at the seat of the presidency - the Belweder, was part of the public debate Forum on the competitiveness of the Polish economy and that of the European market. The Belgian Business Chamber came out with two specific issues: one on innovations and the other on equal opportunities in the field of public tenders.
The Chamber expressed its deep satisfaction and gratitude that Poland had taken the decision of joining the Enhanced cooperation on the EU Patent. Our contention is that further support for this dossier in the forthcoming Polish Presidency of the EU is essential, and will be an important contribution to enhance the competitiveness of the common market. The Chamber opted also for the removal of some procedural barriers within the context of the public procurement law in Poland, especially in its part requiring the certification of Belgian diplomas in the engineering field, by Polish authorities, in order to participate in tenders for the Public Sector.
Mr. President referred to both issues in his concluding remarks and the Secretary of State - Mr Olgierd Dziekonski expressed his interest in a further exchange of opinions on those issues in the nearest future. The Board of the Belgian Business Chamber should take an active role in follow-up initiatives.

Budma - International Construction Fair

The Construction Fair BUDMA is the biggest Construction Fair of Central Europe, with in 2010 1350 company stands and 55.000 visitors. In 2011 (11-15 January) , it was the 20th Jubileee of the ShowRoom.
For years, the Belgian involvement in this fair has been very active. In 2011 again Belgium had one of the biggest national stands (with 2 twin stands of AWEX and FIT in Pawilion 5) .
On Wednesday 12.01 at 16.00 FIT, AWEX and Brussels Export, organised together a Business Mixer in presence of Ambassador Delcorde in Pawilion 5.
