The Belgian company Keppel Seghers is to supply the technology for the world's largest incinerator, which is to be built in China.
The contract is worth no less than 26.7 million dollars and aims to extend the current waste energy installation near the Chinese metropolis of Shenzhen in the southern province of Guangdong.
Upon its completion in 2018, the technology designed by Keppel Seghers will be able to process the daily waste produced by over 20 million people from Shenzhen and its surroundings.
This is estimated to be more than 10 million tons of domestic waste each year. The technology from Keppel Seghers will allow waste to be transformed into renewable energy, which in turn will provide electricity for 3 million people.
Keppel Seghers, a ‘leading supplier of comprehensive ecological solutions’, is based in Willebroek in the province of Antwerp and is a subsidiary of the Keppel Corporation Limited, which is listed on the Singapore stock exchange.
